Mission Statement

The mission of the Film Society of Greater Kansas City is to provide a social format for film enthusiasts to view and discuss films; to learn about and advance Kansas City's film legacy; and to encourage local film making from within the community

About Us

A Brief History of the Film Society - In the spring of 1991, ten people with varied backgrounds and occupations got together to pursue a common interest -
their love of movies. They decided to start an organization where movie lovers could gather to watch films, talk about them, and learn more about the film industry, both past and present. After several months of planning, the first regular meeting of the Film Society of Greater Kansas City was held at the end of June, and the response was overwhelming and gratifying - with 600 film enthusiasts joining at the first meeting! We continue to do our best to provide stimulating programs and events to our dedicated members.
