Reel Spirit – Showcase of Young Filmmakers Hosted by Joel Nichols KMBC Channel 9
Saturday, September 9, 2006 10:00 – 11:30 A.M. Screenland Theatre
Adults - $2.00 Children - FREE
This event will feature several award winning videos among others from the Reel Spirit Showcase for Young Filmmakers held at UMKC last spring. The Reel Spirit Showcase was organized by three educators to offer an authentic premiere venue for student filmmakers in three divisions: Division I – grades 2/3, Division II – grades 4/5/6, Division III – grades 7/8. Young filmmakers from the Kansas City metro area and beyond submitted entries created during the school year in five categories: Broadcast News, Documentary, Drama/Comedy, Public Service Announcement and Animation/Claymation. The student produced entries were judged by local media and video professionals. The opportunity for these young filmmakers to exhibit their creative efforts at FilmFest Kansas City in the Screenland Theatre is an exciting honor.
